Technical notes: So de Syrah has been harvested fresh early in the morning. The grapes are destemmed and lightly squeezed to make a 48-hour cold maceration. We make a traditional fermentation in steel tanks. Grapes are gently pressed to take only de run off and the best press wine. After a cold gravity racking, the wine is clarified (gelatin and egg albumin), filtered and ready for bottling. Electrical and water consumption is minimized in the working process. The transport distance of both grapes and fractionation raw material (bottles, taps and boxes) has been reduced to the maximum. All waste and residuals are valued and recycled (distillation and composting of marc and stems). With these considerations, the resulting carbon footprint of producing a bottle lock and released is 2,14 kg CO2/bottle.

Tasting Notes: Well covered cherry colour. Violet edges denote its youth. Intense and expressive nose of ripe red fruits. Notes of licorice and violet. The taste is rich and balanced. A fresh finish.

Service: Serve between 13 and 15ºC
Aging Potential = 2 years

Vineyard: The grapes come from lime-sandy Syrah vineyards on trellis located in Castelló de Rugat, and  from irrigated vines on clay loam soil on the Vall dels Alforins

Weather: 2013 has been a difficult year for viticulture. We started with a weird cold winter which caused a late start in vine cycle. We had several rain episodes during spring which impede easy landwork. We had some hail storms in the surroundings of La Vall d'Albaida and Utiel-Requena. Fortunately, our plots were saved. Start of summer was chill and we had a delay of three weeks in every variety. Skin rapening in early varieties was difficult to obtain, so we made bunch green-prunning for best quality. Fortunately, september and october were hot and dry, therefore, we made a patient harvest at the best ripening moment. Rain until harvest in Castelló de Rugat and Vall dels Alforins was 250 mm.

Awards: Semifinalist wine in 2014 Nariz de Oro Contest.
